Resources

Our resources include a comprehensive student library and a fully equipped I.T. computer suite. Both are located on the ground floor of the main building beside the reception area.

Student Library

Students are issued with a membership card which they use to borrow books or publications.

Among the resources available are:

  • A range of reference materials and books
  • We also subscribe to a number of journals including membership of the Planning Exchange, a valuable source of information for students on the Certificate / Graduate Diploma / MSc Programme in Rural Development
  • Past exam papers for the Certificate / Graduate Diploma/MSc in Rural Development are held for reference in the Library
  • The Library services the needs of a large proportion of the local business community and consequently holds a wide range of business orientated literature. Generally, these are for reference only.

A photocoping service is available for library materials, but please note that there are strict laws limiting the copying of copyright material.

In normal circumstances the Library will be open from 9.00am to 5.00pm Monday to Thursday and 9.00am to 1.30pm on Friday. Students should contact the Education & Training Department to arrange access and / or advice on borrowing. We are always happy to provide assistance in finding relevant and up-to-date information in response to our user's needs. Please do not hesitate to ask.

We intend to feature online on this website the listing of all our reference books and materials. Students taking QUB courses also have access to the full library service at Queen's.

I.T. Suite

Our I.T. computer suite has been funded by Rural Development Council.

There are five computers in the suite and one in the library which students are welcome to use, along with a networked printer. The computers are equipped with software for Microsoft Word-processing, Excel, Access, Microsoft Publishing and Internet and Email. If any student requires assistance with regard to accessing computer programmes or the internet, please speak to a member of the Education and Training Department staff, who can organise a "taster" session.

All computers have broadband internet access.
